Residing in the ER

Work as it makes sense to an EM Intern

On a radiology rotation in med school I spent the day with a neuroradiologist.  Even for such specialist, he explained this to me:

15% of your work you won’t actually like.  The cases will be boring, the work up unsatisfying, the process unrewarding professionally.

70% of the time you’ll be working with your “bread and butter”.  You have to be comfortable with that, and that’s how you make your living.

But the top 15% of the time you’ll truly be in love.  Those are the cases you live for.  That’s the reason why you went into the field.  That’s where you’ll find your passion.

That’s so true.
